Many folks are concerned that truck drivers spend too many hours straight driving across the country and that in doing so jeopardize the public safety on our Nation’s highways. Indeed there have been some accidents however much of the concern is completely overblown.

The United States Navy has done lots of tests on sleep deprivation, concentration levels and mistakes from fatigue and the studies show that there are issues and they are real. Still we note at the T-5 Group (The Trucking Think Tank Team) that much of this Hours of Service debate is mass media incited hysteria wagging the dog.

Another weekend is approaching and you simply dread it because you know your son’s going to ask you the same question, “Where is my Kid ATV you promised?” The thing is, it’s not that you do not want to keep your promise to your son, but it’s just that you are confused. You are confused because there are so many different types of ATVs out there in the market, Kid ATVs, Youth ATVs, Adult ATVs, with various prices and sizes and what-nots. The Illinois Trucking Association is a long-standing association (77 years) promoting the trucking industry and over the years they have done quite a bit of wonderful things for their members. Unfortunately, now it seems the over regulation of the Illinois Department of Transportation is just too great for them to do any good.

Some Independent Truck Drivers stated that the Illinois Trucking Association was less than adequate and certainly not worth their money to join. When we asked why we received a myriad of reasons from hours of service rules to the no idling at night rules, when the temperature got down below the teens? They said;

We’ve been riding ATVs since we were young kids, hence, we know how it feels like we hit a phase whereby we would rather be bulldozed over than haul the ATV out and ride it. yes, we’ve experienced such periods of boredom and sheer exhaustion especially when after long periods of riding ATVs at the same place over and over again. And we’ve also felt the same kind of boredom when we have to train or guide the young ones when they’re learning how to ride their ATVs. The feelings are all temporary, we assure you. there will come a time when you will fall back in love with your ATV and start riding the ATV aggressively again.
