Remember the ?Drive On Us? campaign? Well if not, this is actually a national incentive campaign that was brought about by the Ford Motor Company. It was purposely created so as to help assist the company bring up the sales. But just a couple of days ago, the company has decided to end the campaign. As an alternative to the ?Drive On Us? campaign, the auto manufacturer from Dearborn, Michigan is now focusing on offering the market with low priced vehicles. The company claims that this tactic is done so as to be able to clear out all of the company?s inventories with the 2006 products that the company has created. And when cleared out, they would soon be moving towards fresh new designs of cars and vehicles that would be sold and marketed at lowered costs.

For all the criticism lobbied against U.S. automakers, there is one area where the American car makers take the lead: FFVs. Flexible fuel vehicles [FFV, which are powered by a fuel comprised of up to 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline, are produced and marketed by American manufacturers at volumes greater than their Asian or European competitors combined. DaimlerChrysler?s list includes their Town & Country and Caravan minivans, the Ram pickup truck, and the Stratus and Sebring sedans. Ford?s Taurus, Explorer and Ranger are the blue oval?s FFVs while for GM, various pick up trucks and SUVs make up their offerings. Isuzu, Mazda, Mercedes, Volvo, and Nissan all produce FFVs, while Honda and Toyota do not.

Ford?s Slow Selling Hybrids It looks as if consumers are agreeing with my stance regarding hybrid cars: they just aren?t worth the premium price. Only the $21,000 Toyota Prius is selling fairly well with sales for all hybrid models dropping across the board. Ford has invested billions of dollars in hybrid technology and is looking to add additional models through 2010 when it hopes to sell 250,000 hybrids annually. Trouble is, not too many people want to pay a premium price for the Ford Escape and the company is now adding incentives of up to $1000 in a bid to move the vehicles. Fully incentivized versions of the gas powered Escape are selling for as little as $17,000 while the hybrid version is retailing for about $27,000. The Mercury version of the Escape, the Mariner, is also a slow mover. It retails for about $30,000.

According to statistics, one of the major causes of accidents, crashes, and collisions is not being able to take and provide full concentration on the road ahead. You see, driving really does entail that you give this act your full concentration or else, you actually would be endangering your safety, your passengers? and other motorists? and pedestrians? safety as well. That is why automobile experts, and safety professionals suggest that if you do have something to do that cannot wait while you are driving, it would be best if you pull over rather than drive and reduce your concentration while behind the wheel.
