A few years ago, it was difficult to find synthetic motor oils, and equally difficult to find someone who admitted to using them. Nowadays, however, you can find synthetic motor oils on the shelves of Wal-Mart, and other retailers, and the number of people turning to synthetic motor oils, particularly in light of the recent events affecting fuel prices, has risen greatly.

So why do people use synthetic motor oils rather than sticking with the old petroleum based stand-bys which are admittedly cheaper?

With motorcycle gang violence again under scrutiny, it?s worth remembering an ominous warning about a biker blueprint for consolidating and carving up territory amongst the strongest clubs to maximise illicit incomes.

The warning was contained in a confidential assessment prepared in New Zealand on the activities of the Bandidos and the Highway 61 club and an agreement between Australian motorcycle gangs.

Bandidos chapter president Rodney Monk was gunned down outside an East Sydney restaurant on Thursday night in what appears to have been an internal club dispute. Police are hunting former Banidos sergeant-at-arms Russell Oldham in connection with the killing. Monk has since been named as a cocaine ?broker? with links to an organised drug syndicate.

Pocket bikes are so much fun. They are designed in a class and style of a mini motorcycle. They are well built with an aluminum or steel frame and will be a fun and sleek style of bike. They are not incredibly fast, but will have speed enough to get over hills and have a lot of fun. It will depend on the size and weight of the person riding the pocket bike to decide how fast it goes. There is lots of fun to be had and so much to learn when you get one of these bikes.

Riding a motorcycle is a fun, exhilirating experience for sure. But motorcycle riders don’t have a lot of protection that surrounds them when riding, and if something goes wrong and the bike goes down or it is involved in an accident, there is no outer shell to protect a rider like there is in a car. So what will afford the best safety for motorcycle riders to help in such situations? Actually, it’s the gear or apparel that they wear that can be their best protection.

You are about to embark on a one of the most rewarding experiences life has to offer. Life is a journey! You may as well be riding a Harley Davidson!

Choosing a motorcycle should be an enjoyable and unforgettable experience. However for the beginner motorcycle rider it may be a little intimidating. Generally, men purchase motorcycles on an impulse. Statistics show women spend more time to research their purchase. I want to outline a few points to consider when choosing a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

On the whole, motorcycle owners put more love and care into their machines than do owners of cars or trucks. That love and care directly translates into hundreds of dollars spent on customizations and maintenance. Sadly, between 30,000 to 50,000 bikes are stolen each year in the United States alone (based on theft rates from 2000 through 2005). And to think, many of these thefts could have been prevented with a little common sense and security.

Getting your suspension dialled in for your riding style is one of your first priority?s when you take your new bike out on the track. However, it is an on going process. What worked today might not suit the next track conditions you encounter next week. Therefore, you have to take on the role of test rider yourself and learn to identify problem areas. Never stop testing and thinking about what your bike is doing. Here are some practical tips for making your bike as good as it can be, stock or modified.

There is a lot of confusion about oil in motorcycles. Specially marketed motorcycle oil is a lot more expensive than oil sold for cars, but is it really safe to run car oil? Yes, just make sure it meets SG, SH, SJ, or SL service requirements. Generally, you are better off with a heavy-duty oil for motorcycles, such as 15w40, below is a list of oils known to work well in motorcycles:

1. Chevron Delo 400 15w40
2. Mobil Delvac 1300 Super 15w40
3. Pennzoil Long-Life 15w40
4. Quaker State 4X4 Synthetic Blend 15w40
5. Shell Rotella-T 15w40 (my personal favorite)
6. SuperTech 2000 (WalMart) 15w40
7. Valvoline All Fleet 15w40
8. Castrol Syntec Blend Truck and 4X4 15w40

When it comes to rallies, Cape Town?s got the venues. Coast to coast, the scenery is spectacular, the roads are pothole free and un-policed and the campsites are a plenty.

But First a Few Rules?

Municipalities and campsite owners view motorcycle rallies with a little trepidation. They are a very territorial, especially when the areas involved are out on the edges of Cape Town. ?Dirty Banners? ?Doughnuts? and ?rude behaviour? are frowned upon by the locals.
